HEALTH:
Levine, Ph.D., Stephen A. and Kidd, Ph.D.,Parris M.,
Antioxidant Adaptation, Allergy Research Group, 1985
Comments by Steve Russell, co-founder
of Quantum Life Journey:
Dr Levine’s book is increasingly recognized as one of
the most significant contributions to science medicine
in the last century. To this day Antioxidant
Adaptation is considered the world’s leading
treatise on free radical pathology (the study of disease
caused by exposure to free radicals) with particular
emphasis on the chemical sensitization as a degenerative
process. In a nutshell, Dr Levine’s treatise in stark
contrast to conventional medicine’s fixation with “germ
theory” and symptom management, observes that the true
fundamental causes of aging and disease is exposure to
free radicals and chemical toxins. |
|
This breakthrough and the
understanding of health and longevity gives rise to the
specific health protocols advocated by Quantum Life
Journey and other leading health practitioners which
protocols not surprisingly, involve avoiding exposure to
the agents which cause disease and premature aging in
the first instance, and in treating the underlying cause
of dysfunctionality rather than treating the symptoms.
The book that started it all! Steve
Levine’s brilliant treatise on the role of free radicals
on human disease and aging launched in 1985 was not only
controversial but revolutionary at the time. The
fundamental hypothesis of conventional medicine was
challenged and Dr Levine’s insights clearly fueled the
expansive growth of a deeper appreciation of the nature
of the human manifestation. Dr Levine’s treatise is
perhaps suitable only for readers with an extensive
scientific background in the fields of bio-chemistry,
quantum physics and orthomolecular biology. On the other
hand, it might be impressive to have a copy of Dr
Levine’s book lying on the coffee table, especially if
it is autographed. He is one of the scientists who has
made perhaps the greatest impact on the health
revolution in our time. It is the principal mission of
Quantum Life Journey’s Educational Programs to translate
and to make available to real people in the real world
the monumental contribution and vision of this great
humanitarian.
It is the mission of Quantum Life
Journey to translate and explain Dr Levine’s work to
those persons not familiar with the scientific
nomenclature and advanced biochemical understandings
which would be required for a full appreciation of the
enormity of his work. Of course, even if one were not
able to fully understand Dr Levine’s work, it certainly
could be impressive to have a copy of his book lying on
the coffee table. What, however, would be more
impressive than a copy of Dr Levine’s book, is the new
YOU! which will manifest itself in the mirror within 30
days of adopting the Four Astonishingly Simple Steps to
Vibrant Health, or perhaps even more importantly the
quantum shift in the quality and depth of your life and
the journey to an expanded capacity and a new deeply
spiritual appreciation of the magnificent universe in
which we live and the possibilities of redefining our
role in that expanded reality.
An autographed copy of Antioxidant
Adaptation is available through the Quantum Life Journey
e-store.
Dr Levine’s work has been acknowledged by some of the
most esteemed and recognized scientists of our time. |

First, Richard A Kunin, M.D., Founder
and Past President of the Orthomolecular Medical
Society, and author of Mega-Nutrition and
Mega-Nutrition For Women comments that Dr Levine’s
book explains all that we need to know about the role of
oxidative damage (free radical exposure) in the genesis
of disease. This field is especially important because
the antioxidant defenses are vulnerable to specific
nutrient deficiency and conversely, responsive to
nutrient therapy. (It will be noted that this
observation by Dr Levine led to the formation of Allergy
Research Group, a worldwide recognized innovator in the
formation and manufacturing of nutritional supplements
and nutriceuticals which are a fundamental component of
the Four Astonishingly Simple Steps to Vibrant Health.)
Dr Kunin suggests that medical practitioners will want
to become “familiar” with the mechanisms of oxidative
free radical damage in order that their understanding of
these mechanisms causing inflammation, immunity
dysfunctionality, allergies, a host of degenerative
diseases and premature aging , will facilitate their
deeper appreciation of the methodologies and modalities
which are available to facilitate the elimination of the
sickness, suffering and disease that so unnecessarily
permeates our society to the detriment of the quality of
life of many of our citizens, and which also lead to
widespread economic and ecological devastation.
Secondly, Wolfgang Huber PhD., FAAAS,
FRSM, FAIC, FNYAS, one of the world’s leading
scientists, remarks: “Dr Levine and Dr Kidd have
assembled a vast amount of relevant information and they
present their complex subject with clarity and
sequential logic. Thus the reader, whatever his or her
discipline, can climb the mountain of present-day
knowledge with comparative ease to enjoy the vista of an
ever increasing understanding of the power and the
danger inherent in oxygen as the staff of aerobic life.”
Similarly, Robert Cathcart, M.D.,
Orthomolecular and Orthopedic Physician and inventor of
the Cathcart Hip prosthesis notes: “This book brings to
life in an understandable form, the meaning of
oxidation/reduction (redox) reactions and their
importance in clinical medicine. It brilliantly presents
the biochemical rationales for many of the clinical
observations of physicians practicing in orthomolecular
medicine and clinical ecology.”

Discover
the answer to the mysteries of these debilitating
illnesses
Comments from Steve Russell, co-founder of Quantum Life
Journey:
With the
exception of Dr Levine’s book, the astonishing and
stunning (to use Dr Levine’s words) work of Dr Martin
Pall, Professor at Washington State University is
carrying on and expanding the understanding role that
free radicals play as the fundamental causal agent
(cause of) many of the 21st Century’s
“unexplained diseases” such as multiple sclerosis,
fibromyalgia, Epstein-Barr virus, lupus, chronic fatigue
syndrome, post traumatic stress, etc. In fact, Quantum
Life Journey highly recommends the inclusion of Dr
Pall’s specific protocols for a period of thirty or
sixty days, which, when used in combination with the
Foundation Pak 2 , provides even long time sufferers of
these nasty and unwelcome symptoms, new hope for the
return to a level of health they haven’t known since
their childhood. Dr Pall’s work clearly has made a major
impact on the health protocols advocated by Quantum Life
Journey.
Explaining “Unexplained Illnesses”
provides long-sought explanations for the properties of
chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), multiple chemical
sensitivity (MCS), fibromyalgia, and posttraumatic
stress disorder. This groundbreaking book examines
common symptoms and signs; short-term stressors such as
infection, chemical exposure, physical trauma, and
severe psychological stress; why people are often
diagnosed as having more than one of these illnesses,
and approaches for treating the cause of each disease,
rather than the symptoms. The book presents a detailed
and well-supported mechanism (the NO/ONOO- cycle) that
provides consistent explanations for many of the
puzzling elements of these diseases.
At least a dozen scientists have proposed that chronic
fatigue syndrome, multiple chemical sensitivity, and
fibromyalgia must share a common mechanism; others have
suggested posttraumatic stress disorder may belong to
this group as well. This unique book provides
explanations for their previously unexplained properties
with more than 1,500 references to scientific
literature, creating a whole new approach to therapy and
treatment of these illnesses.
Explaining "Unexplained Illnesses"
provides answers to these questions:
-
how do short-term stressors initiate chronic
illness?
-
how does the biochemistry of the NO/ONOO- cycle
produce chronic illness?
-
how can the diverse symptoms and signs of these
illnesses be generated as a consequence of their
common biochemistry?
-
why is there so much variation in symptoms from one
sufferer to another?
-
what are the principles underlying the NO/ONOO-
cycle mechanism?
-
how does the NO/ONOO- cycle provide explanations for
a dozen previously unexplained properties of these
illnesses?
-
how might 14 additional illnesses/diseases also be
caused by the NO/ONOO- cycle etiology?
-
and many more
Explaining “Unexplained Illnesses”
is a must-read for physicians and scientists, and for
anyone who suffers from-or knows someone who suffers
from—these previously puzzling illnesses.
“A BRILLIANT TREATISE that brings us closer to a
'unified field theory' explaining the underlying causes
and pathophysiology behind CFS, FMS, and many other
poorly understood syndromes . . . and also closer to
effective treatment! My thanks and appreciation to
Professor Pall for his EXCELLENT AND GROUND-BREAKING
work.”

“A STUNNING EXPOSE on what is surely a central thesis of
chronic, unexplained and fatiguing illness; namely, that
oxidative stress mechanisms hold the key to any holistic
viewpoint. He writes as a truth-seeker and as a
biological scientist with a well reasoned and well
documented style. This book could easily mark the end of
the beginning of a more complete understanding of this
complex field which is a trillion dollar nightmare of
human misery and bio-political inattention.”

Paul R. Cheney, MD, PhD |
“Has clearly demonstrated the weight of the molecular
evidence regarding these targeted diseases: chemical
hypersensitivities, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue and
post-traumatic stress, and that their causation and
progression implicates redox imbalances, or in other
words, electronic imbalances. His model is unique in
explaining the overlapping nature of these diseases (comorbidity),
and explaining why they were previously so difficult to
understand, diagnose and effectively treat. Dr. Pall has
integrated a massive amount of molecular/biochemical
data (this feat is astonishing to me) in order to
present a well crafted model, which should convince
serious minded scientists and doctors that these
conditions are strongly associated with reactive
molecular fragments, oxidative species and that
inflammation and immune abnormalities are the
consequences. THE OPTIONS FOR THERAPY ARE INTRIGUINGLY
VARIED, generally with attractive safety profiles. The
political/environmental implications of this work are
vast, and must be embraced for the health of all of us
across the globe.”

Allergy Research Group; co-author of Antioxidant
Adaptation: Its Role in Free Radical Pathology |
“Dr. Pall has put together as INSIGHTFUL AND DETAILED
view of a significant form of inflammatory biochemistry,
in a manner that makes important contributions toward
science-based treatment. . . . One can only hope that
doctors and others with the sacred duty of care for the
body/mind/spirit of another human being will read this
book carefully.”
Recently released, and one of the most
astonishing contributions to the fields of health and
wellness is Martin Pall, PhD’s work explaining
unexplained illnesses. In carrying out and further
advancing the revolutionary work of Dr Levine, Dr Martin
Pall - one of the guest lecturers of the Quantum Life
Journey Educational Series- provides compelling evidence
of the true underlying causes of the diseases of the
twenty-first century including chronic fatigue syndrome,
fibromyalgia, multiple chemical sensitivity, multiple
sclerosis, and all the other symptoms that all too often
diminish the quality of life for so many people. Clear
and understandable to any reader, this book should be
included in the library of every scientist,
contemporary health practitioner and all people seeking
to have full access to all information regarding health
and wellness so that they may make up their own minds
and reassume responsibility for their own health and
that of their loved ones.

Robbins, John, Diet for a New America, HJ Kramer, 1987
With the exception of Dr Levine
himself, John Robbins has made more of an impact on the
philosophies and mission of Quantum Life Journey than
any other contributing author. John Robbins, who refused
to accept the mega million dollar inheritance of the
Baskin Robbins Ice Cream Company founded by his
grandfather is not only a brilliant author, but a humble
and spiritual humanitarian who has touched the lives of
millions of people around the world with his books, his
inspiring public presentations, and the work of the
ecologically based Earth Save Foundation (founded by
John).
Quote by John Robbins
“The choices that we make today as to the way we treat
each other, the way we raise our children, the kinds of
families and communities we create, will determine how
the future unfolds. If we treat each other one way, we
can cultivate people driven by a death urge, who are
despondent and mean. |
|
If we treat each other another way, if we encourage and
uphold our essential goodness and capacity for loving
connection, we can nurture a society of people who are
healthy and whole and whose lives will bring healing,
peace, and joy to those they touch.
I believe that the real news on this planet is love—why
it exists, where it came from, and where it is going. I
believe that ultimately it is the love in our lives that
underlies and makes possible our greatest healing and
longevity.
Whether we acknowledge it or not, we all have a choice
to be either accomplices in the status quo or everyday
revolutionaries. We have a choice whether to succumb to
the cultural trance, eat fast food, and race by each
other in the night, or to build lives of caring,
substance, and healing. So much depends on that choice.”
Diet For A New America
by John Robbins
381 Pages
Comments by Steve Russell, co-founder of Quantum Life
Journey
Like Dr Levine’s work, John Robbins’ 1987 publication of
Diet for a New America makes it absolutely crystal clear
about why people who seek vibrant health would want to
minimize all proteins, particularly animal proteins, and
would want to avoid all dairy products like the plague.
This book includes ramifications such as the ecological
devastations and economic costs of a leaf based diet
both individually and for the planet at large. John
Robbins has touched the deepest cord of humanity and
spirituality and is truly an American hero in his own
right!
“From childhood on,” Robbins states in the
introduction, “it was expected that I would someday take
over and run what has become the world’s largest ice
cream company –Baskin-Robbins. Year after year I was
groomed and prepared for the task, given an opportunity
to live the Great American dream on a scale very few
people can ever hope to attain. The ice cream
cone-shaped swimming pool in the back yard of the house
in which I lived was a symbol of the success awaiting
me.”
Robbins chose to reject that legacy in favor of helping
to create a more stable environment for the Earth’s
children. His monumental endeavor adeptly intertwines
philosophy, wit, history, literature, science and facts
– as well as his own intense experiences – and is summed
up in the first chapter’s title: “All God’s Critters
Have a Place in the Choir.”
Proclaims Robbins: “Diet for a New America contains no
dogmatic list of should and shouldn’t, but instead gives
you information that will help you select and enjoy
foods that day by day will make you healthier and
happier. It tells you how to protect yourself against
heart attacks, cancer, osteoporosis, diabetes, strokes
and the other scourges of our time. It tells you how to
keep your body free from cholesterol, saturated fat,
artificial hormones, antibiotic-resistant bacteria,
pesticides and the countless other disease-producing
agents found all too often in many of today’s foods. It
shows you how you can enjoy eating food that leaves your
mind and heart clear and unpolluted.”
What do Olympic athletes, teenage pregnancies, crime,
heart disease, and Brazilian rain forests have in
common? More than most people would ever guess, points
out Robbins.
The author’s credentials are impeccable. Robbins gave up
luxury and privilege in favor of promoting health rather
than disease he says is promoted through the consumption
of animal and dairy products.
Robbins spent more than seven years researching and
writing this book, and it shows. Its attention to detail
is not lost on the reader. The poetic and
though-provoking quotes at the beginning of each chapter
highlight the depth and scope of the content.
The word “Diet” in the title is a misnomer, I feel, if
one is looking for specific recipes. Robbins intends it
in a larger sense as a “diet” for the health of people,
animals and the Earth.
Its appeal is broad: the preteen captivated by animals;
mothers’ concerns for family health; athletes looking to
improve performance; scientists seeking empirical
evidence; and physicians questioning med school’s
emphasis on pathology rather than prevention.
Robbins’ book is engrossing and articulate, and a real
eye-opener for most Americans who make little connection
between the standard American diet and the fate of the
world. It puts into perspective questions about health,
ethics, politics, environment and a “kinder, gentler
future” made possible by the foods we put on our plate.

Lee, M.D.,John
R., with Hopkins, Virginia, What Your Doctor May
Not Tell You About Menopause, Warner Books, Inc,
1996 |
Comments by Steve Russell, co-founder of Quantum Life
Journey:
John R Lee, M.D. has made a greater impact on women’s
health issues than any other individual who has ever
lived. His monumental work, What Your Doctor May Not
Tell You About Menopause, rattled the cages of
conventional medicine and offered solutions and hope to
tens of millions of women otherwise limited to the
absurdly inadequate position taken by conventional
medicine on menopause, hormones and the tragically
paternalistic and systematic abuse of women’s rights.
John Lee, a worldwide lecturer about the truth of the
devastation of the massive proliferation of estrogen
mimickers in our environment and the devastating price
paid by women “going along with the program” stands as
an illustration of what one person can do to make a
difference in his lifetime. John Lee tragically and
unexpectedly passed away from a congenital heart
condition on October 17, 2003, but his vision and his
courage will live on through the hundreds of groups like
Quantum Life Journey who recognize his knowledge and his
recommendations and most of all, his genuine love for
all humanity. This book is available through Quantum Life

Erasmus, PhD, Udo, Fats That Heal, Fats That Kill, Alive
Books, 1986
Comments by Steve Russell:
Those of you who are able to attend any of the Quantum
Life Journey presentations will note that the final
slide in many presentations reads “May the understanding
of health be the starship of the next generation, and
may the worship of disease die with us.” Udo Erasmus,
considered the world’s leading expert on fats and their
significance in our daily lives authored the very
comprehensive work Fats That Heal, Fats That Kill which
explains in detail the crucial role that fats play in
the maintenance of vibrant health. It is his life’s work
which underscores Quantum Life Journey’s recommendation
of carefully increasing the good fats , which are
sorely lacking in the diets of 90% of the American
people, while avoiding the naughty fats which are
otherwise so prevalent in the standard American diet.
Udo’s work goes well beyond that of the world of fats
and can be considered one of the most comprehensive and
readable overviews of all aspects of health and
longevity.

limitation of conventional medicine. Len Saputo is the
founder of the four thousand member Health Medicine
Forum headquartered in Lafayette, California dedicated
to the advancement of the deeper appreciation of the
role of science in the creation of health with
particular emphasis on boosting the immune system. With
numerous contributing authors to his collection of
cutting edge exploration of the immune system, he is a
true treasure chest for practitioners specializing in
allergies and immune system dysfunction as well as
readers seeking a broad understanding of the principal
components of natural health and healing. |

Foss, Laurance and Rothenberg, Kenneth, The Second
Medical Revolution, New Science Library, 1987
This fascinating expose of the limitations of
conventional medicine can perhaps best be understood by
reviewing the comments of the world renowned Dr Larry
Dossey in his work Space, Time and Medicine ,”
Our orthodox models in medicine have come to the same
fate as the models of the first scientific revolution:
they are……..inappropriate to studies of the living. Just
as the older physical models of the universe wrongly
attributed causal and independent qualities to the
universe, the current medical models impart the same
qualities to man. And just as the clockwork picture of
the universe that was dictated by these attributes was
abandoned in the onslaught of new data, our mechanistic
views of health and illness will give way to new models
which, too, will be more consistent with the true face
of the universe.”
This book will really tickle your fancy and never again
will even the most entrenched traditionalist be able to
withstand the creeping doubt that there is a vast world
beyond the original limitations of yesterday’s medicine. |

Ridder, L.C.S.W., Mary Jane, Create a Holistic
Treatment Plan, 1996
"Create a Holistic Treatment Plan"
Create
a Holistic Treatment Plan
is an essential guide for anyone who wants to assist in
the emotional and physical healing of a client, loved
one, or themselves. A holistic treatment plan—one that
honors body, mind, emotions, and spirit—embraces the
entire multi-dimensional human being. This book utilizes
the mandala form, symbolism, and consciousness as a
template for creating the plan. |
|
"MANDALA," a Sanskrit word meaning circle, has been used
in the Buddhist tradition as a symbol of the Universe
and its energy. Tibetan monks create certain archetypal
templates to remind us of the cycles of life. Full of
resources, examples and forms to complete, the book has
everything you need to create your holistic treatment
plan.
Crisis Management for Family Caregivers: How a Holistic
Treatment Plan Can Help You and Your Loved
One Through Difficult Times
Frail and impaired, an elderly woman
lies in a hospital bed waiting for a nurse. She thinks
to herself: they don’t know the young girl who went to
the prom; they don’t know the woman who was a dancer;
they don’t know the feelings I felt for my first love;
all they can see is an old lady in pain.
With a Masters in Social Work and over
30 years experience in both psychotherapy and energy
medicine, Mary Jane Ridder understands her predicament.
For years, Ridder, who is the Founder of Maja Holistic
Health and co-founder of Quantum Life Journey, has been
helping caregivers and those in crisis to create
comprehensive treatment plans that are designed to
address a person in his or her totality.
Holistic in nature, Ridder’s treatment
plans include support for one’s mental, spiritual, and
emotional needs – in addition to one’s physical needs –
during a difficult life passage or crisis. “When our
loved ones are lying in a hospital bed or experiencing a
crisis,” she says, “we see them as they are in that
moment, but each person is so much more than that. To
create a successful treatment plan for that individual,
we need to understand who this person is in their
totality and take all of their needs into
consideration.”
Key to one’s healing is the need to
feel nourished. “In order for us to feel harmonious
within ourselves,” she states, “we need to feel balanced
physically, emotionally, spiritually and mentally. When
a loved one is ill or in crisis, it should be a
caregiver’s responsibility to help that person
re-achieve his or her sense of balance on all levels,
which goes far beyond the need for surface cleanliness
and medical attention.”
Using suggestions from her book,
“Create a Holistic Treatment Plan,” provides support for
caregivers and loved ones to help them create a holistic
treatment plan. Addressing the spiritual aspect, for
example, one suggestion that Ridder puts forth is to
have the individual take a Spiritual Inventory. Included
are questions to stimulate self-reflection, such as:
-
What instills a sense of awe and gratitude in you?
-
What brings you peace in a crisis?
-
How do you express your faith through rituals or
traditions?
Following the questions are a list of
activities that can foster spiritual expression for a
person in crisis, such as: prayer; affirmations;
meditation; connection with a ‘higher power;’ readings;
journaling, and many more.
Says Ridder, “During a crisis, most
people draw upon their spirituality through a practice
of reflection, reorganization, and renewal that allows
them to find solace and direction as they navigate this
transition in their lives. Talking about, and
addressing, a person’s spiritual needs is crucial to the
success of a loved one’s recovery.”
To engage the mental aspect, Ridder
offers such questions for reflection as:
-
What are your personal strengths?
-
Where do you feel a lack of power?
-
What needs to go, and what needs to stay?
While it can be easy to fall victim to
negative thinking in the midst of a crisis, Ridder
suggests a variety of techniques – from biofeedback, to
hypnotherapy, to guided imagery and relaxation, to many
others – that can bring a person to a still point. “Once
the mind is quiet, an individual can allow the
inspiration that can help things to be different,” says
Ridder.
Emotionally, Ridder encourages
individuals to talk about whatever it is that brings
them to a place of serenity and self-nourishment.
Additionally, she encourages individuals to look in the
mirror and make any kind of face. Then, upon
self-inquiry, individuals are to ask themselves such
questions as:
-
Where do you feel this emotion in your body?
-
How long have you been feeling this way?
-
What other situations have triggered this?
“It is important to recognize one’s
emotions and embrace them, instead of putting a lid on
them,” warns Ridder. “The emotional body carries the
patterns for the way we respond to situations throughout
our entire lives.” One suggestion, among many others,
for supporting a loved one’s emotional needs is to watch
comedies (inducing laughter), which dilates the spleen,
stimulates glandular secretions, accelerates
circulation, stimulates the pancreas, allows for deep
breathing, and relaxes and reduces muscle tension.
Ridder understands firsthand the
importance of creating a holistic treatment plan to
address all of a loved one’s needs. When her own father
underwent surgery for a brain tumor, at first she relied
on the paid caregivers, the so-called “experts,” to know
what would be best for her father. But something didn’t
feel right.
“I would return to this house where
eight children had grown up and where so many
grandchildren had offered their joy and grace,” she
says, “and there were so many stories in the walls. But
now, this place was bereft of emotion. It was an empty,
huge house because my father was not being emotionally
nourished. There was a caregiver who would make sure he
was clean and fed and took his meds, but I could feel
that gap.”
To nourish her father emotionally, she
would sit with him, have dinner and talk about her day
(he couldn’t talk but he could feel and listen), or
watch TV or look at photos that evoked warm memories.
At times, she would also hold him to help him to
relax and feel safe.
Ridder has discovered that organizing
things for someone in crisis – and especially for an
elderly person – contributes greatly to helping them
feel a degree of predictability in their life. To give
an individual an inner sense of order, she further
encourages caregivers to tack a large monthly calendar
on a kitchen wall and bring the individual to the
calendar each morning. “Have her/him cross off the day
that has just gone by so that he/she can now focus on
the new day before her/him. This will also help them to
see any appointments or activities that are listed on
their calendar for that day,” she says.
“Different people need different
coping strategies in order to feel at peace,” concludes
Ridder, who also happens to hold a 2nd Degree
Black Belt in Aikido – a martial art that is based on a
foundation of peace, love and harmony. “Just as the
purpose of Aikido is to remind us that we are always in
a state of grace, a holistic treatment plan can help a

to discover those things that will most help him or her
come back to balance.
